Please note we cannot accept any ‘walk-in’ concerns at this time and all visits to our office must be prescheduled with our front desk by phone 250-477-7771 or one of our online forms (see below).

As always, the safety of both our staff and patients are our top priority and we have put in place new protocols, procedures, personal protective equipment (PEE) requirements, and sanitization schedules that exceed recommended guidelines. Some changes to expect on your next visit include:

Eye Exams – To promote social distancing we will be booking our examinations less frequently and with less doctors working simultaneously. During initial booking, and prior to your scheduled visit, we will be conducting over the phone screenings to identify patients with possible COVID-19 risk factors that need to be rescheduled, as well as to go through verbally what we typically would accomplish through paper forms to reduce touchpoints in our office. We ask that anyone who arrives early for their appointment to call our office and wait in their car until we contact you that the office is ready for your arrival. We also request patients come alone for their appointment, with exceptions for those accompanying minors and those requiring aid for translation or cognitive/mobility needs. Upon entering, patients will be asked either use the hand sanitizer provided or wash their hands with soap and water. Additionally, we will ask anyone entering our office to wear their facemasks (masks are mandatory in our office until further notice, and if you did not bring one, one will be provided for you).

Our Staff – Both our staff and doctors will be wearing recommended PPE when appropriate including facemasks, face shields, goggles, and gloves. Our staff and doctors have also converted to wearing scrubs, with doctors additionally in lab coats. All of us, regardless of patient contact, will be practicing frequent hand hygiene and physical distancing from each other. Outside of office hours, our team is committed to following BC’s guidelines for social distancing.

OpticalIf you need a repair, new glasses, or sunglasses please call or email and we will be happy to schedule you a convenient time with one of our experienced team members where you can receive a personalized VIP shopping experience. All glasses that are handled will be thoroughly disinfected before being placed back in our frame gallery.

Equipment – As always, all equipment and touchpoints in our office will be thoroughly disinfected between patients with approved cleaning solutions. An enhanced general sanitization schedule has also been implemented. Larger breath shields have been installed on our slit lamps and additional plexiglass barriers have been added to high contact areas. Whenever possible, all measurements in our office will be taken with equipment that promotes social distancing and provides the accurate measurements needed for lens production.

We should also mention while our doors have been mostly closed, we have been working hard behind the scenes to improve your experience. Some exciting new changes in June include:

  1. Direct billing for most major insurance plans.
  2. The launch of our new online storefront for more convenient ordering of contact lenses and eye health accessories.
  3. Extended evening hours and new Saturday appointments.

This is new for ALL of us and we hope to make your experience at Vista Eyecare as enjoyable and safe as possible. For those feeling more comfortable at home, we will continue to offer video and/or phone tele-optometry appointments. If you have any concerns and/or recommendations concerning our “new normal”, we would love to hear from you! Lastly, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your patience and continued support during this pandemic.
