Eyewear Care

Eyeglasses are an investment, in order to extend their lifespan you will want to ensure that you are correctly caring for them. Glasses are a medical device, and if they get bent, or cracked, they will not be adequate for vision correction. Follow the tips below to ensure that your glasses stay in the best shape possible.

Clean with a microfibre cloth

The lenses of your glasses should be cleaned regularly by gently wiping with a microfibre cloth. You want to avoid using a dry, abrasive cloth such as your shirt or a paper tissue.

Use proper cleansers

Ensure that your glasses are only being cleansed with a dedicated eyeglasses cleaner. Alternatively, you may use a drop of gentle dish soap and warm water. If you are cleansing with dish soap, make sure to rinse the glasses thoroughly afterwards.

Store in a hard case

When not in use, your glasses will be most safely stored in a hard clamshell case. A hard case prevents your frames from being crushed or bent. Make sure to place your glasses such that the lenses are facing upwards to prevent scratches.

Don't place frames on the top of your head

Wearing frames pushed up on your head can stretch them out and damage the hinges over time. It is much better to either take the glasses off, or attach a glasses chain or lanyard.

Get professional adjustments and repairs

If your frames are in need of a tune-up or repairs, one of our knowledgeable dispensers can help you. You may need an adjustment if your frames feel loose or uneven, or if you have difficulties keeping them in place. Our opticians and dispensers can also help repair loose or lost screws, popped out lenses, broken or lost nosepads, and more.

Deep clean

If your frames are in need of a more thorough clean, to get dirt and build-up out of small crevices, bring them to our clinic. Our dispensers will use our ultrasonic cleaner, which uitilizes virbation to remove lodged debris.
